Logos are for more than just the identity of a business. They can also be the focal point of an event or function.

The Friends of Jones High School committee needed invites for their Spring Fundraiser. The theme of the event was a Masquerade ball. To fully embrace that theme, they were looking for a logo/icon of a mask that they could use across their marketing materials promoting the event.

Now, it is no secret that you can find clip art of Masquerade Masks all over the internet. So I needed to give them something special. The high school's mascot is an eagle, so I knew I wanted to incorporate that in some way. He became my inspiration, along with some of the opulent mask designs you can find using feathers or the look of feathers.
Using the shape of the head and the eagle's feathers, I created this design. Colored in the school colors of Navy and Silver, I mixed solid and gradients to make each feather stand out giving the mask depth and dimension off the page.
I really like how the final look came out, and the Friends of Jones committee loved the incorporation of the school mascot. You can see the incorporation of the logo into the invitation and envelopes below. More on that design here: INVITATION DESIGN: Jones High School Spring Event >
I’d love to hear what you think about this design. Tell me in the comments below.
Thanks for checking out my work and reading along!
